【英文合同翻译要点11】基本用语/表现 – parties, execution

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have executed this Agreement as of the date first written above.（双方当事人已制定并于开头记载的日期签署本合同，特此为证。）

这样的句子属于英文合同中的典型的末尾表述，英文合同一般都以这句句子做结。party意为当事人，party/parties to this Agreement即为“本合同当事人”。

here意为“正文”，因此the parties hereto与parties to this Agreement的意思相同。当需要表达“~当事人”的含义而使用party时，其前置词必定是“to”（例：parties to the lawsuit诉讼当事人）。

许多人都知道execute（名词execution）有“执行”的意思，但是在英文合同中，大多数情况下，它表达的都是“签订(enter into)”合同、“正式制定”文件、“签名”的意思。
